Medical Communications
The aircraft communications system for medical crew has intercom functions, access to aircraft radio transceivers (VHF) and also a satellite telephone. A separate communications panel exists in the resuscitation seat at the head end of the patient.
The satellite phone is most commonly used as it enables the medical team to have communications from anywhere in the State, whether airborne or on the ground. Many aircraft are currently fitted with an Iridium handset which can be removed from the aircraft for use in the field.
