RFDS tackles eye health

Even worse, over 90 percent of that vision loss is preventable.
That’s why the work we do with the Rural Aerial Health Service is so important. Each week we fly medical specialists out to bush clinics, taking them to see patients who would otherwise struggle to get the medical attention they need. The team will often include an eye surgeon, an ophthalmologist and an optical dispenser. Removing cataracts is now a relatively straightforward operation and it makes a world of difference to someone who may have struggled with failing eyesight for years.
The Flying Doctor is committed to working in partnership with other health care providers to improve the health of all those who
live in remote areas.
